[2uncool Bio :]

2uncool, a DC Metropolitan Area rap trio consisting of J-Ra, K-Kreate, and Massey the Truth released their first mixtape in early December entitled "No Excuses." http://www.datpiff.com/2uncool-No-Excuses-The-Mixtape.292404.html The mixtape opens with a very personal Marvin Gaye sampled song by Massey the Truth called "Beautiful Nightmare." It touches on the challenges and optimism that is encoundered in modern life. K-Kreate states that the title was selected because at the end of the day our success depends on our perserverance through adversity. We have no excuses for anything; "It is what it is." For J-Ra, a lot of his inspiration comes from his angst regarding his employment. While he is grateful to have income in this down economy, there are harsh realities that frustrate him due to his keen ability to see the inequalities in his work environment. "Don't Call That a Blessing", a song on the mixtape, captures the anger and bewilderment of his job. No Excuses the album is scheduled for independent release on iTunes in spring 2012. 2uncool plans to release subsequent mixtapes prior to the album release. "We just enjoy making honest songs about our experience and we appreciate all of the people that can relate or understand our perspective."

2uncool has taken a crash course in marketing 101. "Our main objective was what do we need to do to enable our music to be heard by more people?" We built our internet presence up by utilizing various social media platforms such as Twitter, Jango and YouTube. This has allowed us to reach new places with the farthest being South Korea. Our song Aviator was used for a tribute video for Lee Taemin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZsnXspIgeY. As independent artists, 2uncool understands that a strong social media presence is important to ensure that our music is heard on a broad level.

2uncool is socially aware and believes that communities have the power to change. We did a benefit show in October 2011 for a pregnancy prevention campaign called Keep it 360 in Alexandria Va. "Other musicians included Antidote Musiq and 2uncool, local hip hop and rap musicians who are changing the way hip hop is portrayed. Their positive lyrics were enjoyed by the TC Williams teens attending the event. 2uncool has also just finished their first CD, which will be coming out in the spring." From http://keepit360.org/
The majority of our lyrics can be listened to by all ages. There are a few exceptions such as Beautiful Nightmare and Cardiac which were solo songs that were not intended to be included in the groups releases, but had enormous artistic value.
